The Live From Antarctica crew after the first ever live TV broadcast from South Pole Station, Antarctica. Silas Cole (far right) and myself (fourth from the left) were responsible for the final-link engineering of the broadcast, handling fiber optic, microwave (ENG) and radio-phone voice links necessary to complete the interactive boadcast. Students in several classrooms in the United States asked the scientists questions about their work and conditions at the polar station. January 11, 1995. |
